about

I wanted to write a Mountain Goats-esque "Going to..." series song, but it turned into this one chord dark song.
This song is about a doomed/fucked relationship, where both partners believe that moving to another city, Chicago, in this case will fix their issues. Right?

I also used the laptop mic for the vocals on this song for the effect I guess, or laziness. Perhaps, a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.

I was also excited about a song with just one chord where the guitars are just essentially making unsettling noises. Just saying.

*Drums are programmed, not acoustic

lyrics

Chicago

Tiny sunflowers in the vase on your kitchen table
Today you got a new tattoo
You spin the bottle just to peel off the label
I have nothing for you

Someday I’ll make a plan
Then I’ll know what to do

When we get to Chicago we will be alright

Alright? Alright...
